فضاء .. عشية هبوط مركبة “بيرسيفيرانس”، كمال الودغيري يستعرض طموحات استكشاف المريخ

تصل مهمة المريخ 2020 التابعة لوكالة الفضاء الأمريكية (ناسا) إلى وجهتها يوم الخميس المقبل، بعد رحلة استغرقت سبعة أشهر. وعشية هذه اللحظة التي طال انتظارها، يستعرض العالم المغربي كمال الودغيري، الذي ينتمي إلى أحد الفرق المكلفة بهذه المهمة، في حديث لمكتب وكالة المغرب العربي للأنباء بواشنطن، أهداف هذه المغامرة الجديدة في البحث عن بوادر حياة ميكرو-بكتيرية على الكوكب الأحمر.

ونظرا للقيود المرتبطة بالجائحة، سيكون كمال الودغيري، الذي سبق له وأن ساهم بنجاح في العديد من المهمات الأخرى، ضمن فريق مصغر سيتابع من مقر (ناسا) اللحظة التي سيهبط فيها الروبوت المتحكم فيه عن بعد (بيرسيفيرانس) على سطح المريخ.

ومن المرتقب أن تصل المركبة، التي توصف بأنها الأكبر والأكثر تطورا يتم إرسالها إلى كوكب آخر، إلى المريخ يوم 18 فبراير حوالي الساعة 21:00 بتوقيت غرينيتش.

وستصل المركبة إلى مدار المريخ بعد مسبار (الأمل) الإماراتي، الذي وصل يوم 9 فبراير الماضي، والمهمة الصينية (تيانوين-1) يومين بعد ذلك، مما يُمثل مرحلة واعدة لغزو المريخ.

وفي أربعة أسئلة، يستعرض العالم المغربي طموحات هذه المهمة الجديدة العابرة للكواكب، وكذا مساهمته الشخصية في نجاح هذه المهمة، بما أن (بيرسيفيرانس) هي مهمته الثامنة إلى المريخ وهبوطه الخامس.

1- هل نشهد تسابق نحو كوكب المريخ؟ وما هي الفائدة بالنسبة للعلوم والتكنولوجيا ؟

خلال العشرين سنة الماضية، اكتشفت مهمات (ناسا)، مثل مركبتي استكشاف المريخ “سبيريت” و”أوبورتينيتي” (خلال 2004) ومركبة “كيوريوسيتي” (خلال 2012)، أن الماء كان موجودا بوفرة على الكوكب الأحمر. ونظرا لارتباط الأدلة على وجود المياه غالبا بوجود الحياة، فقد أدى هذا الاكتشاف إلى إعادة إحياء الاهتمام بالمريخ، وتسعى العديد من الدول الآن لتكون من بين أول من يكتشف الكوكب الأحمر.

ويمكننا تلخيص أسباب الذهاب إلى المريخ في ثلاثة أهداف رئيسية : البحث عن الحياة الميكروبية، فهم كيفية تطور الكوكب (دراسة سطحه، وباطن تربته وغلافه الجوي)، والتحضير لوجود بشري دائم على المريخ في المستقبل.

وتظل العديد من الأسئلة حول المريخ دون إجابة، ولا يمكن لدولة واحدة الإجابة على كل هذه التساؤلات بمفردها. وبالتالي، فقد كان التعاون أمرا حيويا لاستكشاف المريخ. وبينما يهدف مسبار (الأمل)، أول مسبار إماراتي على سطح المريخ، إلى شرح سبب وكيفية فقدان الغلاف الجوي للمريخ الهيدروجين والأوكسجين في الفضاء، فإن مهمة المريخ 2020 (بيرسيفيرانس) التابعة ل(ناسا) ستبحث عن علامات الحياة الميكروبية القديمة ودراسة سطح الكوكب.

من جهة أخرى، وفي إطار مقاربة تكنولوجية جديدة، تهدف المهمة الصينية (تيانوين-1)، في محاولة أولى لها، إلى إدخال مركبة في مدار المريخ وهبوطها وإطلاقها على سطح الكوكب الأحمر، وتنسيق ملاحظاتها مع مسبار مداري، وفقا لمقال نُشر في مجلة “الطبيعة وعلم الفلك” (Nature Astronomie).

2- تحدثوا لنا عن مهمة (بيرسيفيرانس) وماهي الرهانات بالنسبة ل(ناسا) ؟

(بيرسيفيرانس) هي المركبة الخامسة والأكثر تطورا التي ترسلها (ناسا) إلى المريخ حتى الآن. فإنها تعتمد على الدروس التي تم استخلاصها من المركبات المريخية الأخرى. ويبلغ طول (بيرسيفيرانس) حوالي ثلاثة أمتار وعرضها 2.7 متر وارتفاعها 2.2 مترا، وتزن 1025 كيلوغراما.

وستبحث (بيرسيفيرانس) عن علامات الحياة الميكروبية القديمة، وستقوم بتحديد جيولوجيا الكوكب ومناخه، وستجمع عينات من الصخور والرواسب من أجل عودة مرتقبة إلى الأرض عام 2026، وستمهد بذلك الطريق لمهمة استكشافية بشرية في المستقبل.

وتشمل المركبة على عدد من التقنيات المستقبلية من قبيل (Ingenuity)، وهي أول طائرة هليكوبتر ستحاول الطيران على كوكب آخر، و(MOXIE)، أول آلة قادرة على إنتاج الأكسجين من الغلاف الجوي للمريخ المكون من ثاني أكسيد الكربون، وهي طريقة يمكن للمستكشفين المستقبليين أن ينتجوا بها الأكسجين لإطلاق الصواريخ وكذلك للتنفس.

كما تحمل على متنها عددا من الكاميرات يفوق عدد الكاميرات التي حملتها أي مهمة عابرة للكواكب في التاريخ، أي ما مجموعه 19 كاميرات ستوفر صورا للمناظر الطبيعية للمريخ بتفاصيل مذهلة.

3- هل يمكننا أن نتخيل يوما ما مهمة بشرية نحو المريخ ؟

إن التواجد البشري الدائم على المريخ هو هدف وكالة (ناسا) والعديد من الوكالات الفضائية الأخرى حول العالم. ولكن، قبل أن نتمكن من تحقيق هذا الهدف الطموح، يجب أن تصبح العديد من الابتكارات في تصميم المركبات الفضائية، وطب الفضاء، وعلم الأحياء الفلكية والفلاحة، حقيقة واقعة. ويساعد التعاون بين الوكالات الحكومية مثل (ناسا) والشركات الخاصة مثل (سبايس إكس) في تطوير هذه الابتكارات.

4- ما هي مساهمتكم في “مثابرة” وما الدروس التي استخلصتموها من هذه المهمة؟

ستكون “مثابرة” هي مهمتي الثامنة إلى المريخ وهبوطي الخامس. عملت سابقا على الدخول إلى المدار ونزول وهبوط المركبات الفضائية: “سبيريت”، “أوبورتيونتي”، “كوريوزيتي”، و”إنسايت لاندر”. وبصفتي رئيس الفريق العلمي “Radio pour Perseverance” ، يتمثل دوري في دعم الأنشطة الحيوية أثناء مرحلة الهبوط والمرحلة العلمية. أنا مسؤول أيضا عن التدريب ونقل معرفتي التقنية إلى أعضاء فريقي.

وعلى الرغم من أنني اشتغلت على العديد من المهمات إلى المريخ، فإن كل مهمة تقدم تحدياتها وفرصها لتعلم أشياء جديدة. “مثابرة” تجسد روح وكالة “ناسا” للتغلب على التحديات. فقد تطلب وصول المركبة إلى منصة الإنطلاق وطيلة رحلتها إلى كوكب المريخ جهدا كبيرا خلال الوقت الذي كان العالم يعيش فترة الحجر بسبب جائحة كوفيد-19. وخلال هذه الأوقات الصعبة، وجدت أنه بغض النظر عن مدى صعوبة التحديات، يمكننا تحقيق أي شيء عندما نجتمع معا للعمل بشكل إبداعي وتعاوني. تذكرني الرحلة على متن المركبة الفضائية بأن الشجاعة والعزيمة والمثابرة الجادة هي في صميم الاستكشاف وتفتح لنا الطريق لآفاق جديدة.
